An outpatient program is a dedicated program for overcoming substance abuse, mental health disorders, trauma, or a combination of challenges in dual diagnosis. However, it is less intense than residential treatment programs, allowing for more freedom in your daily life.
During your time in our Los Angeles outpatient program, you will live outside of Thrive Treatment’s treatment facility, continuing to tend to personal responsibilities throughout the recovery process. However, you will visit the facility twice a week to participate in dedicated sober healing programs and community support groups.
Outpatient programs can be essential for those navigating their daily life outside of a dedicated recovery space, but who can still benefit from the support of an understanding and educated recovery community to explore specific needs and strengthen resilience and wellness. Our outpatient program options can help you continue to focus on maintaining sobriety and motivation while developing new strategies to address challenges outside the treatment facility for comprehensive treatment and lasting recovery.
Experience addiction and mental health treatment like you’ve never seen at our Los Angeles outpatient program. Our evidence-based, trusted program is here to help you recover once and for all.
While the goals of outpatient care at Thrive Treatment and our intensive outpatient program are similar, our outpatient care program is less intense and is intended as a “step down” from other levels of care, such as inpatient treatment, as you transition to life outside of the treatment facility. It is for individuals who have already completed our day program, partial hospitalization program (PHP), or intensive outpatient program and are continuing to take on more agency and responsibility while still benefiting from a supportive community and professional addiction and mental health treatment.
Despite being a less intense option, outpatient care still provides holistic care for you or your loved one, with clinicians helping to manage ongoing sobriety, cope with urges and cravings, and address the ongoing effects of mental health conditions like anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, and other co-occurring disorders. Evidence-based treatments, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), medication management, and more are all part of an effective outpatient treatment plan, and can be personalized to your needs and well-being.
Our outpatient care at Thrive Treatment is the lowest level of care we offer. Attending an outpatient program means that you have accomplished many stages of healing and recovery already and have internalized many personal coping strategies, relapse prevention techniques, and more in your successful sober journey.
At Thrive Treatment, we accept most private insurance plans, and we are in network with Cigna, Optum, First Health, and Anthem Blue Cross. Additional payment options are available, so don’t hesitate to give us a call so we can get you the help that you need to reach your recovery goals.

Not everyone will benefit from a dedicated outpatient program. Depending on your unique experiences and progress in overcoming substance use disorder (SUD), mental health disorders, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and more, the treatment approach that best fits your unique needs can vary. Our outpatient program is best for:
Before committing to an outpatient program at Thrive Treatment, there are a few considerations to ensure it is the right program for you. This includes questions like:
Addressing these questions during assessment can determine if our outpatient treatment program is right for you. However, for those who would benefit from outpatient programs, these programs can provide constant support, community, and new strategies to implement into your daily life for a truly transformative, sustainable approach to sobriety, from relapse prevention to thriving toward personal goals in sobriety.
The first step in moving forward with us in outpatient care is to undergo an initial assessment with our healthcare provider. This is a time when you and a professional from Thrive Treatment will discuss your expectations, needs, goals, and other aspects of your healing journey. The initial assessment can help you set expectations and prepare for how we can best address your unique needs and goals in your continued healing journey.
Our outpatient program can be personalized to address your unique needs in overcoming alcohol or drug addiction. This level of care still includes many experiential healing opportunities and community engagement, helping you stay connected to not only your own sober and healing goals but also becoming an integral part of the dedicated healing community at Thrive Treatment and throughout Los Angeles and California.
Families are also integral parts of those navigating an outpatient program. Having supportive and accepting family members or an at-home support structure is crucial for continuing to overcome the challenges of mental health disorders and addiction in daily life. It is a necessary component of making the most of your time in outpatient care.
To continue facilitating this healing, Thrive Treatment incorporates family therapy, education, and support, with our professionals helping families to embrace continued change at home and explore their own needs in healing and forgiveness.
Our outpatient program is also a great combination of individual and group therapy sessions. During individual sessions, you will have the opportunity to discuss new challenges that arise in life outside of the treatment facility and develop strategies to address workplace stresses, academic stresses, relationship challenges, and more in your healing journey.
Healing does not begin or end at our doors. Rather, it is an evolving process, and new stresses may arise even after graduating from one of our dedicated programs. Outpatient programs and aftercare can help you refine your coping skills to address these challenges and maintain your health and sobriety.
However, you will also have an opportunity to continue engaging in an effective recovery community in group therapy sessions. This can help you stay connected to important peers and professionals in recovery, fostering these sober relationships and community throughout any stage of your recovery journey.
Unfortunately, relapse can be a difficult challenge for many. Even those who have graduated from higher levels of care and are approaching outpatient care as a “step down” program are not immune to urges, cravings, or triggers in sober living. Outpatient care can be a great resource for addressing and adapting established relapse prevention strategies to changes in daily life outside of the treatment facility.
It is common to experience stress and challenges to your sobriety at any stage of recovery. However, having a plan to prevent relapse throughout outpatient care is paramount to ensure your continued hard-earned sobriety.
Our outpatient program also allows you the most freedom to tend to your life outside of the treatment facility. It is great for those who have both established effective coping strategies and are tending to any number of responsibilities outside of treatment. From establishing your professional life to continuing to pursue academic success, you should never have to choose between sober support and these personal goals and responsibilities. This program allows you to balance these responsibilities with continued effective care for sustainable sobriety.
Each recovery journey is different, and there is no single path to sobriety. Rather, talking to professionals about your needs, goals, experiences, and more is the best way to determine if our outpatient care program is right for you or if another approach may be more appropriate. We at Thrive Treatment are always available to discuss how we can best support your healing and change. Calling to speak with us or schedule an assessment is the best way of determining exactly how we can help you in your healing journey.
Our outpatient addiction treatment center in Los Angeles, California, offers evidence-based, gender-specific programming to Los Angeles residents and out-of-state guests who are truly looking to recover from the disease of addiction and co-occurring mental illnesses. Through our integrated therapies and programming, we can get to the root of addiction and mental health issues.
In outpatient treatment, you will live on your own or with family, friends, and support but come to the facility twice a week to engage in dedicated therapeutic opportunities, community, and healing. You will have the opportunity to manage your own responsibilities at home while still benefiting from the professional support of Thrive Treatment and the healing community here.
Each program can always be personalized to find your best practices as well, so you never feel stuck in your recovery by constantly updating your strategies and daily practices with professionals and peers.
The cost of outpatient rehab can vary, but it is typically much cheaper than residential treatment options. Your costs can also vary depending on your insurance coverage. Thrive Treatment is always willing to work with you to explore your coverage, health insurance, and costs before taking your first step into any treatment program.
The length of outpatient treatment can vary from person to person. These programs are designed to be the last step as you transition out of treatment and into your own daily sober life. However, continued engagement in outpatient treatment is recommended at any stage of recovery, no matter how long you have achieved your sobriety, to address new stresses and challenges and remain engaged in a dedicated recovery community.
Your experiences, goals, and length of your outpatient program can be unique to you, depending on your needs, expectations, and progress in your sober journey.
Yes! Continuing to go to work or school is one of the major advantages of our outpatient program. We also offer both daytime and nighttime hours for outpatient care, ensuring you can create a schedule that works for you. Engaging in outpatient treatment while going to work or school can help you address new stresses and challenges that may arise at these places, such as the stresses of looming deadlines, difficult coworkers, and more.
Outpatient programs and 12-Step programs can be used together, but they are not the same. Those in an outpatient program are not necessarily committed to a 12-Step program. Rather, outpatient programs are still personalized to your needs and goals and can be adjusted to find the right approach for you.
Outpatient care is best suited to those continuing to balance their sober healing with personal goals and lifestyles. To learn if this is right for you, call Thrive Treatment at (855) 232-1334.
