Thrive Treatment℠ Center in Santa Monica, California offers evidence-based treatment to Los Angeles residents and out-of-state guests who are truly looking to recover from the disease of addiction and co-occurring mental illnesses. Through our integrated therapies & programming we are able to get to the root of addiction & mental health issues. We offer the following treatment services to aide in your path to recovery.
Addiction recovery is a long journey, and there is no “quick fix” to any form of addiction or substance abuse. Overcoming substance dependence and associated mental health needs, stress, trauma, and more takes time and effort. Professional care, peer support, and the dedication of entire recovery communities are available to help address these needs.
Thrive Treatment is dedicated to the entire continuum of care. Our addiction treatment center, with locations in Los Angeles County and across Southern California, is ready to support your ongoing healing journey from your first step into a detoxification program through our inpatient residential program, sober living, intensive outpatient program (IOP), and ongoing aftercare support. Thrive’s dedicated staff and community also support you while you transition between these levels of care to ensure a safe and effective approach to sustainable sobriety.
The first step in any effective rehab program is detox, expelling traces of addictive substances and ceasing further use of drugs or alcohol. Detox is also when symptoms of alcohol and drug withdrawal can be at their most intense, bringing a myriad of challenges from nausea and vomiting to anxiety, depression, insomnia, and much more. Thrive Treatment’s dedicated rehab center helps you take this first difficult step in the recovery process with medical support and 24/7 supervision to overcome these challenges.
Working with our trained professionals to navigate medical needs, emotional needs, and personal hurdles is all part of beginning your journey right. We blend professional health care services and medication, when necessary, with proven, evidence-based, and holistic treatment services to develop a personalized treatment and relapse prevention plan.
These programs typically last about two weeks, but the length of your program can vary depending on your needs and success in detox. However, detox is not the end of your recovery journey. Rather, it is just the beginning of a transformative plan to overcome addiction, and we are always ready to help you transition to your next level of care.
The next step in most rehab programs is Thrive Treatment‘s residential treatment program. During residential treatment, you will live on-site at our treatment facility while overcoming the continued effects of addiction and practicing daily coping skills, mindfulness strategies, and engaging in effective individual, group, and experiential therapies.
We also blend proven, evidence-based therapies with holistic healing opportunities, such as adventure therapy, film therapy, group experiential therapy, and more, to help you explore new perspectives while fostering a sense of community during your time in these treatment plans. Being able to practice new coping strategies in a safe and sober-curated environment can empower you to focus wholly on your healing and sober development, detaching from external stresses while putting in the hard work to overcome addiction, mental health disorders, and their effects.
These programs typically last around a month while you explore the benefits of community and professional care during your stay. However, depending on your needs and unique journey with drug and alcohol rehab, trauma, and mental health disorders, they can last up to three months as you develop the skills necessary to pursue your personal goals and success in treatment.
Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers a unique stepping-down point between residential care and outpatient treatment, helping you bridge these two levels of care while still feeling supported in your sobriety. During our PHP, you will live outside the facility while attending on-site meetings and programs for six hours a day, five days a week, to help you overcome new stresses and challenges associated with living outside of a curated sober recovery space. These programs continue to provide personalized care and a focus on behavioral health while navigating stress, keeping you connected to healthcare professionals and a sober community as you establish your daily sober routine.
Graduating from detox, residential, or partial hospitalization programs takes hard work and is worthy of celebration. However, our addiction treatment in Los Angeles is committed to your ongoing sobriety and continued healing, offering intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) to help you transition into your daily life as a sober and successful alumnus while still coping with stress and new challenges that may arise.
Our IOPs meet a minimum of three times a week, with meetings lasting about three hours each. However, you can choose to attend up to five days a week, depending on your needs and goals. During this time, you will engage with peers and professionals in effective group therapy and address the unique challenges of living on your own. These programs are instrumental for those building their sober lives and balancing their professional life, personal obligations, and other responsibilities with ongoing sobriety.
The workplace and taking on new responsibilities as an alumnus can come with stress and unique challenges. However, you never have to choose between your job and your sobriety. IOPs can be a great option to cope with the stresses of the workplace while continuing to balance sober milestones.
Addiction recovery is a lifelong journey. Urges, cravings, and new challenges can always manifest. Thrive Treatment is committed to your sobriety inside and outside our walls, helping you develop effective relapse-prevention, life, and resilience skills in your daily life. You are also always connected to a community of sober support, with regular meetings and virtual care options available to promote long-term sobriety and change. Ongoing care and alumni support can help you develop new strategies at any stage of recovery to prevent relapse, develop effective stress management skills, and continue to gain life skills like communication strategies, financial planning, and more.
Addiction is a disease that affects the entire person. Despite pervasive stigmas, addiction and substance abuse are not simply the result of a lack of willpower or character. Rather, these addictive substances and behaviors have a very real and profound effect on the brain, stress, and behaviors.
Substance use of any kind, from opioids, benzodiazepines, heroin, and stimulants to alcohol and marijuana, forces the release of dopamine in the brain, “rewarding” the brain for using these substances. Drugs, alcohol, and compulsive behavioral addictions like gambling can quickly become tied to this chemical, hijacking the brain’s reward centers and becoming expectant or reliant on these substances to release the chemical. As tolerance develops, more of these substances are needed to achieve the same effects, creating a dependence on the substance.
These substances can also inform behaviors, from increased self-isolation, lying, and secrecy to creating entire daily routines around the availability of drugs or alcohol. Those living with addiction may feel it necessary to continue using these substances as their brain becomes programmed to expect their use, with withdrawal symptoms informing repeated engagement, even in those who may recognize the damage these substances cause.
Using drugs or alcohol may also be a reaction to other challenges in daily life. Pervasive, intense, and persistent stress can lead a person to look for any escape from feelings of anxiety, depression, or other stress or mental health disorders. As a person uses addictive substances to push down these difficult feelings, drugs and alcohol can feel necessary to placate these feelings.
Addiction as a disease is also not the result of moral failing. Rather, there can be major genetic or environmental factors that inform the development of addiction. Family members, especially parents, who have lived with the disease, being exposed to addictive substances or behaviors at a young age, or the prevalence of untreated mental health disorders or trauma can all inform addiction. Likewise, healing is not just about stopping the use of drugs or alcohol. Rather, it involves treating each of these complex needs underneath.
Thrive Treatment offers an array of programs designed to meet you where you are, combining evidence-based care with holistic options that can be personalized to address your needs and experiences. These options include:
Each of these programs is further supported by individual, group, and holistic therapies. Nobody is ever beyond healing, and while addiction is a challenging disease, there is always help available to address its effects.
Thrive Treatment offers a unique approach to comprehensive change. Individualized case management is available at every stage of your treatment, from detox and residential care to our PHPs, IOPs, and ongoing aftercare programs. This community is combined with top-quality care, with individualized case management, holistic care, trauma-informed treatment, and ongoing alumni support to maintain sober change.
We also understand that addiction can be an incredibly isolating disease, but its effects are never truly isolated to a single person. Families are greatly impacted by addiction. Thrive Treatment offers effective family therapy programs and education to help families heal together, develop communication, and reach new levels of understanding and forgiveness.
Unfortunately, words like “addiction” still come with a myriad of stigmas or harmful assumptions. Understanding addiction as a disease and knowing when to seek help is a crucial part of creating an effective treatment plan or supporting a loved one in their journey.
Identifying signs of substance abuse and addiction is the first step in seeking effective treatment. Recognizing these signs can open important dialogues about substance abuse with a loved one and help them identify the need for treatment themselves. A person also does not necessarily have to exhibit all of these signs of addiction to benefit from a professional rehab program. Recognizing a few of these signs can be a reason to learn more about addiction and substance abuse and open a conversation about potential treatment. Some common signs of addiction and substance abuse include:
Each of these can be a sign that a person’s relationship with addictive substances may be having profound effects on their daily life and health. However, addiction is a disease that can often worsen over time. Increasing tolerance can lead to using more addictive substances, alongside using these substances in increasingly risky situations, leading to legal troubles, loss of a job, and further damage to personal relationships.
Your journey to a transformed, sober future will be difficult, but it all starts with a single step, conversation, or phone call. No part of healing from addiction is easy, but Thrive Treatment is here to help you take this important first step, creating a treatment plan that addresses your unique needs and goals in treatment.
