The good news is that despite coverage differing from plan to plan, broadly speaking, MHN will cover some aspect of your drug or alcohol treatment.
Addiction isn’t a lifelong sentence. It can be arduous, draining, confusing, isolating, painful and plenty of other adjectives but the one thing that it doesn’t have to be is permanent.
It doesn’t matter how you or a loved one arrived at the realization that treatment is necessary, the important thing is that the heavy cloud of substance abuse was finally recognized. It’s hard to solve a problem if you can’t name it after all. Now that you’re at the starting point of a new journey, the one of recovery, the intimidating prospect of how much that journey is going to cost creeps in with the subtlety of a sledgehammer.
Making sure you or a loved one is getting the treatment that most closely fits your addiction and situation is imperative to give yourself, or them, the best shot at sustaining that hard-won sobriety. Having the potentially high price tag of rehabilitation derail that in any way is a tough blow to take when you’re already at your lowest.
That’s why it’s critical to face the money issue head-on and be able to proceed with confidence.
Fortunately, with an insurer like MHN, or Managed Health Network, a subsidiary of Health Net, on your side, there’s a great chance they’ll cover some portion of your rehab.
With more than 40 years of experience in behavioral health care, MHN partners with a nationwide provider network of over 63,000 licensed practitioners and 1,500 hospitals and care facilities. Based right here in our home state, Health Net is one of California’s largest insurers, covering nearly 1 in 12 in the Golden State.
Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to addiction treatment, but that knowledge should very much extend to what your MHN plan covers since they all vary.
If you’re struggling to wade through what exactly your coverage includes, it can be overwhelming and we understand that completely, feel free to reach out to our admissions team and we can help you in that all-important research part of the process. The last thing you want is to find out something vital isn’t covered or that you’ll be left on the hook to pay for more than you expected.
It’s better to be 100% sure in advance.
At Thrive Treatment℠ we accept most private insurance plans and we are in network with Cigna, Optum, First Health, and Anthem Blue Cross. Additional payment options are available so don’t hesitate to give us a call so we can get you the help that you need.

There’s no stopwatch on rehab.
No pressure to get it done as quickly as possible. Treatment takes as long as treatment takes.
The best outcomes come from a rehab program that digs deep into the root causes of addiction, helps you understand them and then equips you with the tools needed to lead a sober life. Treatment can last a month or it can stretch many months, it all depends on the severity of the substance abuse disorder that you’re struggling to overcome.
MHN ultimately pays for what it deems medically necessary, just as other insurers do. If, for example, a longer stint in rehab is necessary to put you on solid footing for the future, MHN could very well cover that.
The good news is that despite coverage differing from plan to plan, broadly speaking, MHN will cover some aspect of your drug or alcohol treatment.
Ranging from Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and behavioral health services to plans on the government’s Marketplace aka Exchanges, MHN and Health Net provide substantial benefits to those working to beat addiction.
To that end, MHN drug rehab coverage benefits can include:
More specifically, benefits related to the treatment of substance abuse disorder, generally encompass:
Of note is that MHN does not provide or administer prescription drug or pharmacy benefits.
As per the Affordable Care Act, treatment for substance abuse disorders is considered one of ten essential benefits and MHN plans purchased on the Exchanges – available in California, Oregon and Arizona – include; outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and residential treatment as well.
Insurance acquired via the Exchanges is organized into 4 tiers of plans, known as the metals.
Bronze – The lowest monthly premium and a high deductible before insurance kicks in, this is more of a worst-case scenario plan. After the deductible is met MHN would pay 60% and you’d pay 40%.
Silver – Slightly higher monthly payments and a slightly more manageable deductible that, once met, MHN would 70% and you’d cover the other 30% of coinsurance.
Gold – Yet higher monthly premium accompanied by a decreasing deductible, which means MHN would kick in sooner. You cover 20% and MHN would pay for 80% after the deductible is reached.
Platinum – The highest monthly premium but the lowest deductible. MHN pays for 90% after that and you’re left with just 10% as coinsurance.
Some benefits are only paid for by MHN if they are pre authorized so it’s critical to be aware of which are in advance.
Additionally, MHN strives to ensure the best results for their clients by working with providers to design treatment plans. They call it “care management” and it’s meant to make certain that:
Insurance shouldn’t be a wall between you and recovery from addiction so at Thrive Treatment we do our best to accommodate as many insurance providers as we can and MHN is certainly one of the many that we accept.
If you’re unsure of what your particular plan includes or if you need preauthorization for a certain treatment, you can contact MHN directly to better understand your policy or give us a call and we can help you find out what you need to know as well.
