Veronica Cleary is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 12 plus years of experience in the substance abuse and mental health field. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she has worked in a wide range of local clinical settings, including both residential and intensive outpatient treatment facilities. Within her work, she has gained expertise in treating substance abuse and co-occuring disorders, and has been consistently recognized for her clinical efforts alongside her participation in program development/oversight. Although Veronica has undertaken many roles within the recovery field, her main objective has always been and will always be to support and empower her clients to transform their lives.
Over the years and through her training, Veronica has developed a unique, multi-faceted approach. Completing both her undergraduate degree and her alcohol and drug abuse counseling certification at Loyola Marymount University, she elected to continue her pursuits by attending Antioch University, earning a master’s degree in clinical psychology. Utilizing the explorative facets of Attachment Based Theory and the pragmatic skills of CBT and DBT, Veronica uses both a process oriented and skill based approach in her clinical work.
She is consistently modifying her approach to meet each client’s individual needs and although she incorporates various modalities, unconditional positive regard, connection and authenticity remain the foundation of her clinical work. In other words, Veronica believes wholeheartedly in the power of the therapeutic relationship as the infrastructure to healing, utilizing this relationship as a focal point for continued growth and repair. Her career has been based upon building, nurturing and sustaining these therapeutic relationships, in efforts to support her clients in secure and healthy attachment.
Veronica has also been very active in the development and oversight of several substance abuse and mental health treatment programs. She has devised and enhanced policies and procedures to more effectively help personnel at all levels, has streamlined existing protocols and has consistently met all operational targets. Her expertise in program development, policy development and staff management is backed by her knowledge of latest industry advancements. Veronica is dedicated to offering quality services and often attends professional conferences, as to continue her education.
