Hannah Ayers, MA, AMFT
MARRIAGE & FAMILY THERAPIST
Hannah is a Marriage & Family Therapist at Thrive Treatment℠ in Santa Monica.
Hannah is an Associate Marriage and Family therapist. She graduated from Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology with an MA in Clinical Psychology.
Hannah began her clinical experience as a graduate student working with LGBTQIA+ individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS experiencing issues such as homelessness and addiction. This began a passion for working with underserved populations, particularly people of color in the LGBTQIA+ community. For the next 2 years, Hannah developed a specialty in eating disorder treatment working at all levels of care including inpatient and residential treatment. A firm believer in “health at every size” and intuitive eating, she learned the importance of developing a compassionate relationship with the body and challenging diet culture.
Hannah utilizes a depth approach rooted in Internal Family Systems supported with mindfulness, self-compassion and accountability. She believes in order to destroy the weed, it must be pulled from the root. With gentle challenges and insight, her style allows space for reflection and finding deeper meaning to promote a sense of understanding and wholeness. In addition to depth work, she is trauma-informed and trained in evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT to promote skill based interventions for long term recovery.
Hannah is an avid documentary watcher and podcast listener of all things true crime, history and politics. She’s a huge fan of Brene Brown and owns all of her books. She’s guilty of frequently making references to and/or quoting Star Wars, Game of Thrones, The Office and RuPaul’s Drag Race. She enjoys puzzles, cats, art, plants and brunch.
