Amy Penner is an Licensed Clinical Social Worker who brings a decade of experience in mental health, counseling, and community-based settings. Amy has a background in working with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders in inpatient and outpatient settings. She is experienced in facilitating groups, helping clients gain coping skills, and providing individual therapy from a strengths-based perspective.
Amy Penner completed her Bachelor’s degree at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon with a double major in Psychology and Spanish language. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. Prior to Thrive, Amy worked with adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse and dual diagnosis mental health issues working on their sobriety and recovery. Amy has worked, volunteered, and interned with vulnerable individuals and diverse populations in Chile, Israel, New York City, Portland, Los Angeles, and Orange County. She grew up in Southern California and is a native to the area.
When not at work, you can find Amy bike riding on the beach, enjoying the outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and dancing/singing along to goofy music. Amy Penner is passionate about empowering clients to become the best versions of themselves.
